Rock Festival - Police Conversation (500 word minimum)

if you would like to write about a conversation with a pop/rock star click here

Something is stolen from you. Go to the police caravan. Write out the conversation that you have with a police constable. Use speech marks correctly.

Consider These Points

i) You need to match what is said to the feelings.

Upset, confused, angry, aggressive, frightened, indignant, distressed, worried

ii) The person you're speaking to. How do you interact with them?

How do you feel after the item is stolen? (Was it valuable? Are you angry or afraid?)

How would the policeman speak to you? (Trying to help or uninterested?)

Would the policeman be calm and reassuring? (Depends on your approach?)

What responses might the policeman give? (Calming or unhelpful?)

How would this depend on the way you acted? (Aggressive or helpful?)

iii) The language that they use. What must you consider?

How would the policeman talk? Official/formal/police/trying to help/calming?

iv) The language that you use. What must you consider?

How would you talk to the police? Formal/detailed/descriptive/victim/angry at thief?

SUMMARY OF ADVICE

EACH NEW SPEAKER NEEDS A NEW PARAGRAPH.

YOU MUST WRITE THIS AS SPOKEN LANGUAGE WOULD BE USED.

WORDS THAT WOULD GO IN A SPEECH BUBBLE GO IN THE SPEECH MARKS

YOU MUST USE A VARIETY OF VOCABULARY TO GET THE BETTER MARKS.

USE A RANGE OF ADJECTIVES THAT DESCRIBE IN THE CONVERSATION.

YOU MUST USE LANGUAGE THAT FITS THE PERSON SPEAKING AND THE SITUATION.

e.g. When I got to my tent I saw that everything was gone. I was so angry, as I'd lost some valuable articles. It's not just the money, there was the sentimental value too, and well, it's the principle of the thing. I went straight to the police hut to report it and make sure that something got done about it. I saw a young constable, who seemed indifferent about the whole situation.
"Good afternoon, can I help you?" asked the policeman; he seemed to be bored, as if he didn't really want to be there. I suppose that in my frustration I could have been mistaken about his tone of voice, but I got angry anyway; probably not the best way to start the conversation.
"Yes, you can, I've had all my gear nicked and I want you to do something about it."
